En esta interesante videoconferencia, el Psicólogo Javier Garcés Prieto (de la Asociación de estudios psicológicos y sociales AEPS) , uno de los mayores expertos sobre la psicología del consumidor y el impacto psicológico de los valores, ideas y comportamientos propios de la sociedad de consumo, explica como el consumismo afecta a negativamente al bienestar psicológico de las personas.

Se explica también como muchos problemas de salud mental, depresión, ansiedad, adicciones sociales y trastornos alimenticios, están relacionados por la aceptación de los mensajes publicitarios y del marketing que invitan a buscar la felicidad, la realización personal, la autoestima y el éxito social a través de la compra y el gasto. De esta forma se puede entender porque, a pesar de vivir una sociedad que goza de bienestar económico, los problemas de salud mental y de falta de bienestar psicológico están tan extendidos.
